CONCORD, N.C. – This weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series heads to a track that Dale Earnhardt Jr. is very familiar with -- Talladega Superspeedway.

“Always loved coming here as a kid to see the races,” Earnhardt said. “This was such a fun race track to be at.”

Since his childhood days of watching his father race, Earnhardt has been connected to the Alabama track.

“I think watching a race at Talladega is so different than anywhere else,” he shared. “If you go to a race at Talladega your driver can literally, possibly take the lead at any moment in the race.  You can’t say that anywhere else.”

Earnhardt knows how exciting this race is for the fans and he wants to make sure they get the best show possible.

“With that comes a responsibility, I think, as a driver to try to make that happen,” he explained. “When you come off Turn 4, you can see a big difference in arms in the air and people excited about what just happened when you take the lead.”

Earnhardt has experienced the fan excitement firsthand throughout six Cup Series victories at the track.

“When you get up there and mix it up it gives them what they want,” he said. “So, I think that is why I like running here and definitely makes it a unique experience as opposed to any other track we go to.”

Watch Earnhardt and his teammates take on Talladega Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on FOX.
