CONCORD, N.C. -- Teammates Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. compete against each other each week on the track.
But they are also now squaring off in another arena: the 2017 Kids' Choice Sports Awards arena.
Both drivers have been nominated for the Need for Speed category, facing off against other professional athletes, including Usain Bolt (Jamaican track and field Olympian), Allyson Felix (American track and field Olympian), Lewis Hamilton (British Formula One driver), Katie Ledecky (American swimming Olympian) and fellow NASCAR Cup Series competitor Danica Patrick.
Earnhardt also earned a nomination in a second category: Favorite Male Athlete. He is up against Tom Brady (New England Patriots quarterback), Kris Bryant (MLB third-baseman and outfielder for the Chicago Cubs), Stephen Curry (NBA guard for the Golden State Warriors), LeBron James (NBA forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portuguese professional soccer player).
The awards show will air Sunday, July 16, at 8 p.m. ET on Nickelodeon. Make sure to vote for Johnson and Earnhardt before the show here.
