LONG POND, Pa. – Jimmie Johnson was the fastest teammate on the track Friday evening during qualifying at Pocono Raceway.
The No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS advanced to the second round of qualifying and will start 19th.
“We’re frustrated and we're trying to get better,” Johnson said. “We’ll do everything we can with the Lowe’s Chevy to get it back up front once again.”
Chase Elliott and Kasey Kahne missed the second round of qualifying by a narrow margin. They will start from 25th and 26th, respectively.
Despite qualifying 28th, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start at the rear of the field for Sunday's race as a result of swapping the engine in the No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet SS during practice.
Kyle Busch secured the pole position.
Sunday's race is scheduled for 3 p.m. on FOX Sports 1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
