BROOKLYN, Mich. – Stage 1 is complete at Michigan International Speedway and Hendrick Motorsports has two teammates inside the top 10.
Chase Elliott rolled off the grid in 10th and maintained his spot in the top 10, finishing the first stage in eighth. He picked up three bonus points for the finish.
After starting from the rear of the field in a backup car, Jimmie Johnson quickly navigated his way toward the front to finish Stage 1 in 10th. He received a bonus point due to his stage finish.
Kasey Kahne started the race in 16th, picking up four positions and taking the green-checkered flag in 12th.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. started the race in 17th and worked his way into the top 15 for a 15th-place Stage 1 finish.
Martin Truex Jr. won the stage.
Stage 2 will consist of another 60 laps before a final 80-lap segment.
