BROOKLYN, Mich. – After 120 laps at Michigan International Speedway, Chase Elliott found himself inside the top 10 for the second stage in a row.
Elliott started Stage 2 from seventh and held onto his top-10 position during the segment for a ninth-place finish.
He was the only Hendrick Motorsports teammate inside the top 10 and picked up two more bonus points in the process.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. continued to make progress in Stage 2 and took the green-checkered flag in 12th.
Kasey Kahne spent the majority of the stage running consistently in the top 15 and finished Stage 2 in 16th.
Jimmie Johnson battled the loose handling of his No. 48 Lowe’s/Kobalt Tools Chevrolet SS in Stage 2. He finished in 21st.
Martin Truex Jr. won the stage.
The race will conclude with a final 80-lap segment.
