CARQUEST/Kellogg's team wants to build on solid Daytona finishes

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 6, 2007) - Kyle Busch has been close to victory at Daytona International Speedway, but hasn’t been able to taste it yet. This Saturday, Busch will make his sixth start at the famed superspeedway, and hopes that what he learned from previous races will be enough to help him finally get the No. 5 CARQUEST/Kellogg’s Chevrolet to victory lane. Busch’s performance during February’s Daytona 500 easily places him as “one to watch” in this weekend’s race. He held an average running position of 4.61 in the prestigious race and spent 99.1 percent of the race’s 202 laps in the top 15, besting all other competitors. But while eyeing the top spot in the race's closing laps, Busch was caught in the “big one” and finished 24th. “I guess we were all going for the win, and wrecks happen when you have four or five guys who are all going for the win,” Busch said. “We had a car good enough to win during the ‘500’ and we went for it. I ended up 24th, but at least we ran well. "I spent the entire race except for the last lap in the top 15 and I proved that I can draft with these guys." Busch also proved his restrictor plate racing prowess in the 2006 Pepsi 400 at Daytona. After starting 14th, Busch found the right drafting partners and worked his way through the field. When the checkered flag fell, Busch was happy with the runner-up finish, his career best at the superspeedway. Busch will attempt to do one better this Saturday night in the Pepsi 400. The race will air live on TNT at 6:30 p.m. ET.
