SPARTA, Ky. – Jimmie Johnson was the fastest teammate on the track at Kentucky Speedway Friday evening when qualifying ended early.
Due to inclement weather, qualifying was cut short and made official upon the conclusion of the second round.
Johnson will roll off the grid in eighth.
Chase Elliott was the next fastest teammate in qualifying and will start from the 12th position with Dale Earnhardt Jr. rolling off the starting grid behind him in 13th.
“We got the car a lot better right at the end of the last practice,” Earnhardt said. “Compared to where we were when we unloaded it was a great improvement."
Kasey Kahne, who also advanced to the second qualifying round, will take the green flag from the 23rd position.
Kyle Busch won the pole.
Saturday night's race is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
