CONCORD, N.C. -- For years, Stevie Waltrip -- former Hendrick Motorsports driver Darrell Waltrip's wife -- gave Dale Earnhardt Sr. a Bible verse to put in his car each and every race.
Now, that tradition has continued with Dale Earnhardt Jr., and the driver said it's the one thing on race day he can't do without.
"I don't have anything that I do on race day that I'm superstitious about, that has to happen, except for the scripture," Earnhardt said. "Stevie's never missed a race in all my career. I've never raced without it."
FOX Sports interviewed Earnhardt and his wife, Amy, along with both Darrell and Stevie Waltrip to get the inside story of the special tradition.
