FORT WORTH, Texas – Another 85 laps are complete at Texas Motor Speedway and Chase Elliott is once again leading the Hendrick Motorsports teammates.
Following the Stage 2 restart Elliott quickly broke into the top 10 and continued to make progress on the track. He finished Stage 1 in fifth, scoring six bonus points.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. made a stop for four tires and fuel at the end of the green-flag pit stop cycle and finished the second segment in 15th place.
Kasey Kahne got caught up in an incident on the first lap of Stage 2 that caused him to lose track position. After a trip to pit road, Kahne returned to the racetrack and began fighting to get back to the front. He finished Stage 2 in 18th.
Trouble in Stage 1 with the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS caused Jimmie Johnson to fall off the lead lap. Johnson battled the handling of his car throughout Stage 2 and took the green-checked flag in 31st down multiple laps to the leaders.
Kyle Larson won the stage.
The race will conclude with a final 164-lap segment.
