CONCORD, N.C. – Chase Elliott will take his final ride in the No. 24 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet SS this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Next year, Elliott will climb behind the wheel of the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. So, as this season winds down, Elliott took some time to reminisce about the very beginning of his stint inside the iconic No. 24 car.
“It was right at the beginning of January,” Elliott noted. “That was the first time I had really kind of been with the team.”
He recalled how surreal it felt to get into a driver’s seat vacated by Jeff Gordon. And now, he has one more race to add to the mark he’ll leave on the number.
“I want to finish strong in it,” he said. “I’d love to add to the win column that Jeff has created with that number over the years.”
