Cathy Hendrick Honors Daughters’ Memory with Scholarships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Inspired by the memory of her daughters who lost their lives in a plane crash almost one year ago, Cathy Hendrick awarded two students at Charlotte Christian School with one-year scholarships for their senior year. Seniors Alex Salloum and Christy Connors were the recipients of the Jennifer Hendrick Memorial Scholarship and the Kimberly Hendrick Memorial Scholarship awards. Cathy Hendrick was on hand to make the presentation in an all-school chapel assembly on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Jennifer and Kimberly Hendrick graduated from Charlotte Christian School in 2000. The scholarships, in memory and honor of her daughters, were established by Hendrick in May of 2005. The basis of the scholarships is to recognize two rising seniors who exemplify a humble, Christ-like spirit and heart of service to the Lord. Both scholarship recipients have been actively involved in student life at Charlotte Christian School. Salloum has been a cell group leader, member of the swimming and fencing teams and a member of the spirit band. Connors played on the junior varsity basketball team and is a member of the French National Honor Society. Both students are active in the community and have spent numerous hours volunteering. Charlotte Christian School is Christ-centered, college preparatory school for junior kindergarten through 12th grade students. Founded in 1950, the school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and currently has 1017 students.
