JOLIET, Ill. -- A strong qualifying effort from the NAPA AUTO PARTS team Saturday evening placed Chase Elliott on the second row for Sunday's race at Chicagoland Speedway.

While all four Hendrick Motorsports teammates advanced from Round 1 to Round 2, Elliott and William Byron were the only two to make it to the final round.

Elliott qualified third, while Byron's No. 24 UniFirst Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will line up ninth.

“I felt like I got all I could," Elliott said following the qualifying session. "I don’t really know what I could’ve done different in that last round. It was good, much better than we have been qualifying, so it was nice and hopefully turns out that way tomorrow.”

Byron echoed his teammate's sentiment, stating that the UniFirst team is ready to go to work tomorrow.

“We didn’t really do a qualifying run in practice, so I thought that we were kind of going blind into qualifying," Byron said. "It went pretty well, but I think that we have a couple of things to think about or work on overnight for the race. Obviously, it’s impound so you can’t really change much, but I think our car has been good on race runs so we should have a good day tomorrow.”

Alex Bowman and Jimmie Johnson will take the green flag in 17th and 22nd, respectively.

Paul Menard won the pole.

Tune in to Sunday's race at Chicagoland Speedway at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
