On May 16, Rick Hendrick hosted the 2005 Rick Hendrick Celebrity Golf Classic Presented by Bank of America at Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, N.C. This year’s event raised more than $500,000 for the Hendrick Marrow Program.
The roster of celebrity participants included Roger Staubach, two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys; NASCAR drivers Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, Brian Vickers, Terry Labonte and Jimmie Johnson; and Carolina Panther President Mark Richardson.
The golf event brought together more than 60 corporate teams and generated over half a million dollars for the Hendrick Marrow Program of The Marrow Foundation. Bank of America, the title sponsor, was joined by Choate Construction, The Gene Haas Foundation, BMW and Hendrick Motors as presenting sponsors.
“Over the past 16 years this event has grown tremendously,” Hendrick said. “When I learned we had reached the half million dollar mark with this year’s event I was thrilled. The monies raised here today will begin making a difference for patients immediately.”
Hendrick founded the Hendrick Marrow Program in support of the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) and its partner, The Marrow Foundation, to connect individuals to opportunities to work together as a team to save lives. The Program’s funding priorities are donor recruitment and transplant support assistance.
