CONCORD, N.C. – On Oct. 15, 2005, Jimmie Johnson wrapped up a historic streak of success at Charlotte Motor Speedway, earning his fourth consecutive win at the venue and capturing back-to-back season sweeps at the track in the process.

The run started with a win in the 2004 Memorial Day weekend 600-mile race, when the driver dominated to lead 334 laps of the 400-lap event en route to Victory Lane.

Fast forward to October of that season, Johnson added a second consecutive win at Charlotte Motor Speedway. After starting the race in ninth, the driver worked his way into the lead by Lap 180 and went on to lead 35 total laps, including the final 17 circuits, on the way to a season sweep.

When the Cup Series returned to Charlotte the following season in for the 600-mile race in May, Johnson carried momentum from the season’s previous sweep all the way to Victory Lane.

He led just 11 laps but took his final lead of the day on the lap it mattered most, the final one, to make it back-to-back-to-back wins at Charlotte.

Later that year in October, Johnson found Victory Lane yet again at the venue, earning a second consecutive sweep and four wins in a row at the 1.5-mile oval.

In total, Johnson has reached Victory Lane a record eight times at Charlotte Motor Speedway, with his most recent win coming in 2016.

As a whole, Hendrick Motorsports has 19 wins at Charlotte, which is tied with Dover International Speedway for the organization's second-most at a track, behind only Martinsville Speedway with 24 wins.

The organization will chase after its 20th Charlotte win this weekend.
