CONCORD, N.C. – Wednesday, a new edition of #MorningsWith aired live on the Hendrick Motorsports Twitter account, a segment that introduces fans to teammates all across the organization’s Concord, North Carolina, campus.
This week, we got to know engine tuner Brian Franklin.
And from a young age, Franklin always had a dream to pursue a career in motor sports.
“I started racing go-karts when I was about 7 or 8 years old back home in Virginia, running all over the Carolinas and was pretty successful at that,” Franklin said. “This is all I ever wanted to do. As I got older, I got the chance to go work on some local dirt late models, stuff like that and work with some local teams.”
Franklin was working for an engine supplier in Martinsville, Virginia, before an opportunity with Hendrick Motorsports opened up.
“The rest is history,” Franklin said. “I came here in 2010 and I’ve been here ever since.”
Currently, Franklin works as an engine tuner for the No. 23 team in the Xfinity Series, one of several teams to whom Hendrick Motorsports leases out engines.
He, along with all of his teammates in the engine shop, take pride in consistently providing the high-quality engines to multiple teams and organizations.
“Everybody in this shop comes in here with one goal, to put out the best engine, the best product we possibly can,” he said. “Teams recognize that and there’s a certain pride, certain quality that goes along with that. Everybody that comes in here is here for one thing and that’s to send the best possible engine we can to the racetrack to hopefully win a race, win championships and not have any issues.”
