Nearly a mirror image of the 24/48 race shop, the newest addition to the Hendrick Motorsports complex will open in the upcoming months and is slated to hold the No. 5 and No. 25 NEXTEL Cup Series teams.
Construction broke ground earlier this spring, and if all goes as planned, the teams should be moved into their new home by the end of the year.
The building is set on five acres of land adjacent to the 24/48 shop, and will be approximately 85,000 square feet. Besides housing the No. 5 and No. 25 Cup Series teams, the new addition will also contain the executive offices for Hendrick Motorsports.
The 5/25 shop will house its own fabrication and machine shop, parts department, paint booths, shock assembly area and engineering department in addition to offices for crew chiefs and team managers.
The building will even have indoor areas to house both teams’ race transporters as well as driver and crew chief motor coaches.
For NASCAR fans, the newest of the Hendrick shops will offer the same type of fan viewing experience as the 24/48 shop. Visitors will be able to peer into the main shop areas and take in the teams’ trophy gallery that will be on display in the main lobby.
