KANSAS CITY, Kan. – There was a very special reunion this weekend at Kansas Speedway with a little help from Jimmie Johnson.
Brooke Norman thought her husband, Sgt. Matthew Norman, had entered her into a contest to meet the driver, and she’d won.
But when she visited with the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, she got the surprise of a lifetime.
Sgt. Norman, who had been deployed since last August, had returned home to surprise his wife on their anniversary.
Johnson helped make the moment happen, and his partner, Ally, made it even sweeter with some swag, suite tickets to the race and a gift card for the Normans to go out for an anniversary dinner.
“What an opportunity and what a way for me to try to help and say thank you, in a sense, as well, to connect this family,” Johnson said.
