Johnson Wins, Goes Two-for-Two at Pocono

LONG POND, Pa. (Aug. 1, 2004) – Jimmie Johnson drove his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet to victory at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, completing a two-race sweep of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series events held there in 2004. Johnson led a strong showing by Hendrick Motorsports, which placed four teams in the top-15. Jeff Gordon was fifth in the No. 24 DuPont Chevy, followed closely by sixth-place Terry Labonte in the No. 5 Kellogg’s Monte Carlo. Gordon, a four-time Cup Series champion, overtook Dale Earnhardt Jr. for second in the series standings, one place behind Johnson. Rookie Brian Vickers was 14th in the No. 25 GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet.
