BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 15, 2002) -- The Lowe’s Chevy was again one of the quickest race cars on the Michigan International Speedway track for Saturday’s final practice before the Sirius Satellite Radio 400 on Sunday. Jimmie Johnson piloted the No. 48 to a time of 39.383 seconds and a speed of 182.820 mph, good for third overall. Terry Labonte was the second-best Hendrick Motorsports performer, posting a time of 39.835 seconds and a speed of 180.746 mph in the No. 5 Kellogg’s Monte Carlo, putting him 17th in the session. Defending NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon was 26th in Saturday’s “Happy Hour” practice, driving the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet to a 40.092-second time and a speed of 179.587 mph. The No. 25 UAW-Delphi Chevrolet of Joe Nemechek was the 32nd-quickest car in practice with a speed of 178.651 mph and a time of 40.302 seconds. The Sirius Satellite Radio 400 will take the green flag at 1 p.m. EDT from Michigan International Speedway on Sunday. The race will be broadcast live on the FOX television network and MRN Radio affiliates.
