Hendrick Seeking Another Top-10 Finish

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 26, 2002) -- Coming off his first top-10 finish of the 2002 NASCAR Busch Series season, Ricky Hendrick, driver of the No. 5 GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet Monte Carlo, will be looking to keep that momentum going when the series returns to action on Sunday for the GNC Live Well 250 at The Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wis. "I like Milwaukee," said the 22-year old Charlotte, N.C., native. "We finished 10th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Milwaukee last year and we are coming off a top-10 Busch Series finish at Kentucky. “Team GMAC is pumped to go to Milwaukee and get another solid finish. It's taken us a long time to get things going in the right direction and now we need to keep them going that way.” The team returns to action at the West Allis track, just outside Milwaukee, after a one-week break for the drivers of the Busch Series. While everyone welcomed the time off, Hendrick is eager to get back to action after he rolled to an impressive eighth-place finish at Kentucky Speedway last time out. "We have been running in the middle and back of the pack all season, but at Kentucky we spent the race up front and even fighting for the lead at one point in the race. I'll tell you one thing -- it is a lot easier to run up front than it is to run in the middle or the back of the pack. “Our morale is high and we are all determined to make running up front a regular thing. We proved last week that we could be very competitive." While there was no scheduled event, Team GMAC was busy nonetheless, taking several cars to the wind tunnel before conducting a two-day test at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., where the series will compete in July. "We had a really busy week off," said Hendrick." We tested in Chicago because we have never run on the Chicagoland track and we definitely learned a lot. The guys also got in some good work in the wind tunnel. “I would like to think that our bad luck is behind us and you will see a very different second half of the season. We are totally committed and ready to race. “We can't wait to get to Milwaukee." Hendrick and Team GMAC will take the green flag at The Milwaukee Mile for the GNC Live Well 250 on Sunday, June 30 at 1 p.m. EDT. The event will be broadcast live on MRN Radio affiliates and the FX television network.
