Green Looks Good at Atlanta

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Oct. 28, 2002) -- David Green continued his impressive run in the NASCAR Busch Series on Saturday, finishing 14th in the Aaron’s 312 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Since taking over for Ricky Hendrick three races ago, Green, a former Busch Series champion, has reeled off three consecutive top-15 finishes, including a fourth-place finish at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and a ninth at Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park in the No. 5 GMAC Financial Services Chevy. Green is 45th in championship points after starting just nine events in 2002, up two positions from last week. Driving the No. 24 NetZero Chevrolet, Jack Sprague lost an engine just 54 laps into the race, finishing a disappointing 42nd. Now fifth in the Busch Series standings, the Spring Lake, Mich., native has one victory, nine top-fives and 14 top-10 finishes this season. Jamie McMurray earned his first career victory in the Busch Series, beating out second-place Michael Waltrip and third-place Mike McLaughlin. The NASCAR Busch Series will next visit North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham, N.C., on Saturday, Nov. 2. Scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET green flag, the Sam’s Club 200 will be carried live on TNT and MRN Radio.
