North Carolina Governor, Mike Easley and First Lady, Mary Easley recently initiated a public challenge to North Carolina communities, as well as civic and business leaders. Their challenge…support North Carolina’s education initiative “Communities in Schools,” which connects community resources with schools to help students stay in school, learn needed skills and prepare to become productive citizens.
Hendrick Motorsports is answering the first family’s call to action by donating $10,000 to the “Schools” program. However, I would like to issue a personal challenge to your organization to support this more than worthwhile cause by donating $500 to the “Communities in Schools” initiative. To add further notoriety to this cause, Governor Easley is going to participate in a “hot lap” session prior to the start of The Winston Open on Saturday, May 17. The Governor will make a series of three laps – should his laps average 150 miles per hour, Hendrick Motorsports will add the entire sum of the donations contributed by your companies and match the added total dollar amount in addition to the $10,000 that we have previously committed.
On behalf of Hendrick Motorsports, I want to thank all of you for your continuing support and am hopeful that you will join us in this meaningful effort. Please respond with your commitment for the “Communities in Schools” effort to Julie Roberts, (704) 455-0655 or [email protected].
Should you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.
Best regards,
Rick Hendrick
