Vickers Qualifies Eighth at Chicagoland

JOLIET, Ill. (July 11, 2003) - Driving the No. 5 GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet, Brian Vickers posted the eighth-best lap during NASCAR Busch Series time trials at Chicagoland Speedway on Friday. Vickers, 19, ran a speed of 180.560 mph (29.907 seconds) around the 1.5-mile tri-oval, earning his second consecutive top-10 start and the team`s ninth top-10 start of the 2003 season. Casey Mears will start on the pole for the 300-mile event after chalking up a 181.757-mph speed (29.710 seconds). The Tropicana Twister 300 is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. ET start on Saturday, July 12 and will be broadcast live from Chicagoland Speedway on MRN Radio and NBC.
