DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 15, 2003) - Last Sunday's Sirius At The Glen, one of two road races in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, posted solid viewership increases en route to being last weekend's most-watched sports telecast.
The event, on NBC, also was the most-watched NASCAR Winston Cup race in Watkins Glen International history, with an average of 5,926,000 households and 8,670,000 viewers tuned in, both figures representing 6% increases from 2002.
This marks the third consecutive year that Watkins Glen's television audience has grown.
The Sirius At The Glen had a viewership that was more than nine times higher than the Indy Racing League event broadcast by ABC, also last Sunday afternoon.
