Jimmie Johnson Makes White House Visit

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 6, 2007) – Lowe’s Chevrolet driver Jimmie Johnson was honored Monday in Washington for his 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series title. The day began with a congratulatory Oval Office meeting with President George W. Bush. Joining Johnson, also the defending Daytona 500 champion, was Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick, Lowe’s CEO Robert Niblock, NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France and NASCAR president Mike Helton. Following the White House visit, the group made its way up Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol where they were greeted by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Johnson’s group later attended a reception hosted by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Also congratulating Johnson were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Sen. Jon Kyl, Sen. Bill Nelson, Sen. Ron Wyden and Sen. Bob Casey.
