New Hampshire qualifying a wash, field set by points

LOUDON, N.H. (June 26, 2009) – The field for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway will be set by the owner standings after Friday’s qualifying session was rained out. Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet, will line up in the outside pole position, marking his sixth front-row start this season. Jimmie Johnson will start third in his No. 48 Kobalt Tools Chevrolet, while Mark Martin, driver of the No. 5 CARQUEST/Kellogg’s Chevrolet, will line up 11th. Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 National Guard/AMP Energy Chevrolet will roll off 20th. Pre-race coverage for the 301-lap event starts at 12:30 p.m. ET on TNT. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 2 p.m.
