FORT WORTH, Texas (April 16, 2010) -- Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. earned spots in the top 10 during Friday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying session at Texas Motor Speedway to lead their Hendrick Motorsports teammates.
Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet, will line up fourth for Sunday's event, while Earnhardt, driver of the No. 88 AMP Energy/National Guard Chevrolet, will start ninth.
Jeff Gordon, the defending race winner at the 1.5-mile racetrack, earned the 12th starting spot after dealing with a battery issue. Gordon will drive a specially-painted No. 24 DuPont/National Guard Special Forces Chevrolet.
Mark Martin, driver of the No. 5 Hendrickcars.com/GoDaddy.com Chevrolet, will roll off the grid 30th for Sunday's Sprint Cup event. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 3 p.m. ET, and the race will be broadcast on FOX.
