Hendrick Motorsports teammates will join in Charlotte test this week

CONCORD, N.C. – Round two of testing at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the sixth-generation NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car is coming up Thursday and Friday, Jan. 17-18, and track officials once again are opening the gates so fans can enjoy the two-day test, free of charge.

The 2013 models made their on-track debuts in December at the legendary 1.5-mile oval to positive reviews from many drivers and crew chiefs. Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be among the Sprint Cup talent taking advantage of this final test session on the Concord, N.C., racetrack that hosts the season's 600-mile event.

“The car has really awesome potential,” Earnhardt told the media about the 2013 Chevrolet SS race car during the December test. “This car really gives me a lot of sensations that are similar to the old car that we ran four years ago. We have got a lot of things to learn about it.”

Testing will run from 9 a.m. local time to 4 p.m. each day, with a break for lunch at noon. Each day, the General Motors grandstands will open at 8:30 a.m. for the public to enjoy the test session. Fans should enter through gate 5A, by the main ticket office.

Ticket information for all Charlotte Motor Speedway events can be obtained by calling 1-800-455-FANS (3267) or online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com.
