Kobalt Social Media Command Center to debut this weekend at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Motor Speedway is taking social networking to a new level with the brand-new Kobalt Social Media Command Center during the March 7-10 NASCAR weekend.

The social media hub, located in the Neon Garage, will host computers accompanied by large video monitors and screens that will give fans a live view of social networking by some of the top personalities in NASCAR.

Guests from Team Lowe’s Racing, NASCAR, LVMS, Sprint and news media will take seats regularly in the command center to communicate with fans and share real-time information throughout the weekend. Follow Hendrick Motorsports at www.twitter.com/TeamHendrick for up-to-date information throughout the race weekend.

Feeds from drivers, fans, race teams and sponsors will be tracked and displayed on monitors from the second floor of the Neon Garage.

“The Kobalt Social Media Command Center is raising the bar for social media interaction between the race fans and the high-profile personalities in NASCAR,” said LVMS President Chris Powell. “The various forms of social media have become a part of our every-day lives, and we think this new attraction in the Neon Garage will set an industry standard for how sports venues will handle this generation of communication. Our Sprint Cup sponsor, Lowe’s and its Kobalt Tools brand, have been leaders in social media, and we are appreciative of their guidance in getting this center up and running.”

Throughout the weekend, drivers and celebrities will appear in the command center to participate in fan interaction and tweet-ups. The perimeter around the command center also will afford free wireless internet access to fans in the Neon Garage.

The Kobalt Social Media Command Center is one more way for fans to experience – and be a part of – NASCAR Weekend at LVMS.
