Hendrick praises 'best balance' entering Chase

CONCORD, N.C. – Hendrick Motorsports has earned 11 championships in its 30 years of existence, so Owner Rick Hendrick knows a thing or two about what it takes to win a title.

And Sunday night, he said he believes all four teams are showing that they’re capable of doing just that.

“I think we have got better balance this year than we have had in the past,” he said.

He noted that Jeff Gordon is "on a roll," Dale Earnhardt Jr. is in the midst of “the best year of his career with us,” and the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup consists of tracks that Jimmie Johnson is “really good at.”

And now, Kasey Kahne has a win under his belt with just one race remaining until the start of NASCAR’s postseason.

“I think when we're tied with three cars for the most wins and the momentum with the 5 car going in, I think that we have got a really good shot,” Hendrick said.

Back in August, Kahne said that just one win could allow a driver to “really get on a roll and be as good as anyone in the sport.”

Hendrick Motorsports now has 10 this season, and the drivers are using each one to their advantage.

“The thing that I love about Hendrick Motorsports and the way our teams are situated and how they work together is that we’re constantly battling against one another from a competitive standpoint, but we’re working together as a team as well," Gordon said in August. "It just elevates the whole organization. So, when one team starts to do something well, we can lean on that information and hopefully see the results as well."

The results – with all four drivers in the Chase – speak for themselves.

“I think that it's the best balance that we have ever had with all the cars going into the Chase,” Hendrick said.
