CONCORD, N.C. -- This Sunday, the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup once again kicks off at Chicagoland Speedway.
It's a track that has provided plenty of success to Hendrick Motorsports, as the organization has had at least one top-five finisher there every year since 2002.
That held true last season, when Jimmie Johnson's fifth-place finish kept the streak alive. Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne all finished in the top 12 of the race after all qualifying in the top 10 to begin the event.
An engine issue late in the event caused Dale Earnhardt Jr. to be scored 35th.
The 2013 race, thanks to two rain delays and various caution periods, stretched over nearly 10 hours.
In 54 Cup starts at Chicagoland, Hendrick Motorsports has two wins, 19 top-five finishes and 27 top-10s. Jeff Gordon earned Hendrick Motorsports’ first Cup win at the racetrack in 2006.
