CONCORD, N.C. -- Dover International Speedway has long been a favorite for Hendrick Motorsports.
The Delaware track has provided 16 wins for the organization, which is the fourth-most for Hendrick Motorsports at any track, trailing only Martinsville (21), Charlotte (18) and Pocono (17).
The 16th win came earlier this season, when Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag as the leader.
Not only did Johnson improve his all-time record to nine wins, he added another record to his book in that June event, surpassing Hall of Famer Bobby Allison for the most laps led at the one-mile oval.
Johnson led a race-high 272 laps after starting fourth.
Joining him in the top 10 was Dale Earnhardt Jr., who took home a ninth-place finish. Jeff Gordon made it three Hendrick Motorsports drivers in the top 15 with his 15th-place finish, and Kasey Kahne rounded out the foursome with a 19th-place result.
With all four drivers finishing in the top 20 and Johnson taking home a win, Hendrick Motorsports will look to echo those results when the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup heads to Dover on Sunday to close out the Challenger Round.
