CONCORD, N.C. – The NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race brought with it a unique take on qualifying.

One-by-one, all 20 cars ran three laps – and a four-tire pit stop – with the total elapsed time determining the starting order for the race.

Kasey Kahne jumped to the top of the board after his run, ultimately earning a fifth-place starting position for the No. 5 Time Warner Cable Chevrolet SS by the time qualifying was complete.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was next up in the No. 88 Mtn Dew Baja Blast Chevrolet SS, qualifying seventh.

Jeff Gordon was the third of the Hendrick Motorsports teammates to qualify, and will be the third to take the green flag as well. The No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet SS will roll off the grid ninth.

Jimmie Johnson, driving the No. 48 Lowe’s Patriotic Chevrolet SS, qualified 12th.

The green flag for tonight’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.
