DOVER, Del. – No Hendrick Motorsports driver made the final round of qualifying on Thursday at Dover International Speedway.
Jimmie Johnson will lead all four Hendrick Motorsports drivers on Sunday, and will start his No. 48 Lowe’s ProServices Chevrolet SS from the 14th position.
“I think, in a sense, we didn’t make the changes we needed to because the car had so much speed in that first practice session, but this is a total different racetrack,” Johnson said. “We have won from much further back than 14th this year, so I am not worried about that.”
Not far behind Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will roll off the grid 16th in the No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS.
Jeff Gordon will start his No. 24 3M Chevrolet SS from the 22nd position.
Kasey Kahne narrowly missed advancing past the first round. The No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet SS will roll off the grid 25th for Sunday’s race.
Denny Hamlin will lead the field to green at the Monster Mile.
