LONG POND, Pa. – Last weekend at Dover International Speedway, Jimmie Johnson found Victory Lane for a 10th time in his career. But the historic moment wasn’t even what stuck with the driver the most.

It was a hug.

Johnson met Beau, one of his biggest fans, who happens to be battling illnesses at a young age.

“Just such a special moment last week,” Johnson said.

And the meeting made Johnson want to reach out to Beau’s family to make sure he got the experience of a lifetime the following weekend at Pocono Raceway.

Sure enough, Beau and his family attended yesterday’s race as guests of Johnson and honorary members of the No. 48 crew.

"It was great,” Johnson said after his third-place result at Pocono. “To see him and spend some more time with him (Sunday) was incredible. What a wonderful spirit he has, awesome parents, just blessed to get to know him a little bit over the past two weekends."

Beau Smith's big day as an honorary crew member of the 48. I can't wait to see his smile again soon.
