LONG POND, Pa. – Both Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson made the final round of qualifying Friday afternoon at Pocono Raceway.
Gordon will start 10th, while Johnson will roll off the grid 12th.
“You have three unique corners that you have to drive different and set up different,” Gordon said of the track. “When I think of Pocono, that’s what I think of. I know they call it the ‘Tricky Triangle,’ but it’s true. It is a very challenging and tricky place to compete at.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kasey Kahne, who narrowly missed the third and final round, will line up side-by-side in 15th and 16th.
“We just missed it a little bit,” Earnhardt said of the No. 88 Microsoft Chevrolet SS setup. “That’s the difference between 15th and making that last round.”
Sunday’s race is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. Full broadcast information and key notes to keep an eye on are available here.
