CONCORD, N.C. - It is the second race of the Chase and Hendrick Motorsports haulers are heading north to New Hampshire Motor Speedway once again this season.

Racing at the short track since 1993, Hendrick Motorsports has acquired nine wins, six poles, 42 top-five finishes and 69 top-10s in the New England state.

But before the drivers start their engines in hopes of adding another win to that list, let’s take a look back at three very memorable moments from New Hampshire.

Sept. 14, 1997 – The 1997 season was a good year for Jeff Gordon. Going into the New Hampshire race, he already had nine wins in the books for the season and was a strong contender for the championship. After starting the race 13th, Gordon went on the lead 137 laps and crossed the finish line first to claim his 10th win of the season. And to top it off he ended the year with a second championship trophy in hand.

July 16, 2006 – Kyle Busch was looking for his first win of the season and New Hampshire is where he would get it done. When the green flag dropped he was fourth and eventually led 107 of the 300 lap race. After an exciting green-white-checkered finish, Busch pulled into Victory Lane to celebrate his win.

June 27, 2010 – Jimmie Johnson was coming off of a win the weekend before at Sonoma and was looking to make it two in a row. He rolled his No. 48 Chevrolet off the grid at New Hampshire Motor Speedway 10th. It was a 300-lap battle to the finish but Johnson made his way to the front of the pack for nine laps, including the final two. Johnson finished the 2010 season with six wins and his fifth championship.
