LEXINGTON, Ky. -- This year at Darlington Raceway, Dale Earnhardt Jr. piloted a throwback No. 88 Valvoline Chevrolet SS for the historic return of the Southern 500 to Labor Day weekend.
And Tuesday evening, Earnhardt traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, along with Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick and former championship crew chief Ray Evernham to help celebrate the upcoming 150th anniversary of Valvoline in 2016.
The trio discussed the legacy of Valvoline in racing, reminiscing about some great drivers to race Valvoline cars, including Mark Martin, Cale Yarborough and Buddy Baker.
The event was held at Rupp Arena -- where the University of Kentucky plays basketball -- and as part of the experience, Earnhardt, Evernham and Hendrick got to take a look inside the Wildcats' locker room.
