FORT WORTH, Texas — The field is set for the second race in the Eliminator Round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
The most recent Texas winner, Jimmie Johnson, who has also won the previous three “Chase” races in Fort Worth, will roll off the grid eighth. The driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS will be competing for a Texas Motor Speedway sweep for the 2015 season this weekend.
Also piloting his way into the final round of qualifying on Friday evening was the driver of the No. 88 Kelley Blue Book Chevrolet SS. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will roll off the grid behind his teammate in 10th.
Kasey Kahne, competing in the No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet SS, will take the green flag at Texas from 16th place.
Wrapping up the Hendrick Motorsports teammates is Chase driver Jeff Gordon. The veteran will take the green flag in his No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet SS in 18th place.
“I felt really good about some race runs we had today, so I’m feeling pretty optimistic,” Gordon said after his second qualifying run.
Brad Keselowski will be first to take the green flag from the pole in Sunday's race at Texas at 2 p.m. ET on NBC.
