CONCORD, N.C. -- A group of 10 students known as Backpack Journalists recently made a trip from Charleston, South Carolina to the Hendrick Motorsports campus for a fun-filled, yet informative visit.
Through an educational partnership with Hendrick Automotive Group dealerships in Charleston and North Charleston, these ambitious fifth, sixth and eighth graders have spent the past semester learning about the world of automobiles, which eventual led them on this adventure to Charlotte.
Their agenda consisted of an interview with Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick, chassis and body designer Richie Parker and a tour of the 140-acre facility.
The extensive learning program has already opened numerous interview and learning opportunities for these students, including luminaries such as presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, television's Soledad O'Brien and former Major League Baseball player Larry Doby.
