ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Jimmie Johnson has a heart for other sports besides the high-intensity racing he buckles up for every weekend in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
One of those sports includes cycling, which Johnson said is one of his favorites.
While in Daytona for Speedweeks, Johnson had the opportunity to join other Cup drivers, professional triathletes and cyclists, along with world champions on a bike ride to help raise awareness and consideration of cyclists as they share the road with motorists.
Between competing in the Sprint Unlimited and last Sunday’s Daytona 500, Johnson donned a different suit, gloves, and helmet for the 60-mile “Scott Lagasse Jr. Champions for Bicycle Safety Ride.” The event took the riders through three counties and ended with a lap around Daytona International Speedway.
