KANSAS CITY, Kansas -- Chase Elliott will lead his Hendrick Motorsports teammates to the green flag tomorrow as night racing returns to Kansas Speedway.
Elliott, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. all advanced through the first round but did not lay down fast enough laps to make it to the final round.
"We've got a great Lowe's Chevrolet," said Johnson, who won this race last year. "We've had a bit of adversity to fight through today but it's still a very fast race car and I think one that's going to race very well tomorrow night."
Elliott will start Saturday's race in 13th, while Johnson and Earnhardt will roll off the grid in 15th and 22nd, respectively.
Kasey Kahne did not make it through the first round and will take the green flag in 27th.
