CONCORD, N.C. – Charlotte Motor Speedway will swing back into racing action this weekend as the lights turn on for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.
This year, the annual exhibition event features three parts -- two 50-lap segments followed by a 13-lap dash to the checkered flag.
Hendrick Motorsports has encountered much success in the race that pays $1 million to the winner.
Take a look at these seven fun facts about the organization’s All-Star achievements.
1) Hendrick Motorsports has competed in a total of 31 All-Star Races since its inception.
2) Throughout the years, three different drivers have earned eight wins for the organization in the special exhibition race: Jeff Gordon (3), Terry Labonte (1) and Jimmie Johnson (4).
3) The organization’s first All-Star win came on May 20, 1995, as Gordon led 49 of the 70 laps to bring home the checkered flag.
4) In the All-Star Race, Hendrick Motorsports drivers have earned totals of 34 top-five finishes and 52 top-10s.
5) En route to logging those top finishes, the drivers have also led a grand total of 657 laps.
6) While they have not claimed All-Star Race wins for Hendrick Motorsports, Kasey Kahne and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have both taken home the trophy once in their NASCAR Sprint Cup Series careers.
7) Johnson holds the title for the organization’s most recent win in the event after he led 10 laps to earn a record fourth All-Star victory in 2013.
