CONCORD, N.C. -- This week, FOX handed the broadcast baton to NBC, and Blake Shelton helped mark the occasion with a music video featuring some Hendrick Motorsports teammates.
But that's not the only big event kicking off NBC's coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for the remainder of the season.
Tonight on NBC Sports Network, a #NASCARthrowback will hit the airwaves.
A two-hour version of the July 7, 2001, race at Daytona International Speedway will air starting at 8 p.m. ET -- with a twist.
Tweets will be pulled into the broadcast live, giving fans the opportunity to join the conversation and watch along with their favorite race teams, drivers and on-air personalities who will also be tweeting throughout the race.
That particular Pepsi 400 was -- spoiler alert -- won by now-Hendrick Motorsports driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.
The three Hendrick Motorsports teammates at the time were Jerry Nadeau, Jeff Gordon and Terry Labonte, and Nadeau led them to the checkered flag that day.
But there were plenty other Hendrick Motorsports personalities involved in the race, including now-No. 24 crew chief Alan Gustafson as the tire specialist for Labonte and the No. 5 team.
Tune in tonight for even more fun facts about the thrilling throwback race, and join the conversation on social media by using the #NASCARthrowback hashtag.
