CONCORD, N.C. – Brian Foreman’s parents were told that their premature newborn most likely would not make it.

Now, the fabricator at Hendrick Motorsports credits his survival to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

After being born before his due date, the doctors at Foreman’s hometown hospital had done all they could for him.

“The only thing that saved me was taking me to the Children’s Hospital in Columbus,” Foreman said. “They were able to save me.”

While Foreman does not personally remember the five weeks he spent at the Children’s Hospital, he recognizes the impact Nationwide and the hospital make in the community around them.

“I don’t want this to be about me,” Foreman emphasized. “It’s all about the kids.”

“If you go up there and visit Columbus, everything you see is Nationwide, obviously,” he continued. “The hospital, what they do with the community and the kids, I think it’s tremendous, it really is.”

Foreman moved from Ohio to North Carolina over 20 years ago and has been working in the Nos. 48 and 88 shop at Hendrick Motorsports for almost four now.

“Nationwide is a great sponsor and since they’ve been here with us, they’ve visited numerous times and I think that’s great,” the fabricator said. “They’re part of the team, they really are.”

Nationwide and Hendrick Motorsports, together, are a team that care about each other and the communities surrounding them.

“I think that’s what you’ve got to have these days to compete, knowing they’re behind us,” Foreman said of Nationwide. “And obviously they’re behind Children’s Hospital too, which is great.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be running the No. 88 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Chevrolet SS this weekend at Kentucky Speedway.

“It’s kid-friendly,” Foreman said of the No. 88 Chevy’s special design. “Most people think of a race car and it’s supposed to be tough and this and that, but this week it’s for the kids and I think that’s special.”
