WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- This Sunday at Watkins Glen International, Jimmie Johnson will lead the Hendrick Motorsports teammates to the green flag.
Johnson narrowly missed advancing further in Saturday's qualifying session. The top 12 moved on to the second and final round, but Johnson took home a 13th-place starting position.
Next to roll off the grid will be Chase Elliott, who qualified 16th. Jeff Gordon -- filling in for Dale Earnhardt Jr. as the driver of the No. 88 Chevrolet SS -- will start Sunday's race 21st, and Kasey Kahne will take the green just behind him in 23rd.
Carl Edwards earned the pole position.
The road course race is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. It will be broadcast on USA in addition to MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
