CONCORD, N.C. -- This weekend's Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway is all about going retro.
For the occasion, Jimmie Johnson and Lowe's are throwing it back all the way to 1979.
The No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS is based on a blue-and-yellow paint scheme from 1979, originally designed for Dale Earnhardt Sr.
With Earnhardt injured, NASCAR Hall of Famer David Pearson served as the substitute driver.
Lowe's Racing has already unveiled a unique poster to commemorate the vintage scheme, and now a video showcasing Lowe's deep roots in racing has been released.
Watch it in full above, and be sure to vote for your favorite throwback paint scheme here to crown the "Best in Show" at Darlington.
