CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Sunday afternoon at Bank of America Stadium, the Carolina Panthers got back in the win column by defeating the San Diego Chargers.

Before the 28-16 victory began, however, the team got a dose of good luck courtesy of seven-time champion crew chief Chad Knaus.

The No. 48 team crew chief stepped onto the field to serve as the game's ceremonial Keep Pounding drummer.

It's a tradition before Panthers games that has been taken up by current and former players, Make a Wish kids, military personnel, Olympic athletes and even a fellow No. 48 team member -- Jimmie Johnson in 2014, before a game the Panthers also won.

Check out Knaus' interview with Panthers.com about the honor here.
