CONCORD, N.C. -- Later this month, two cars with ties to Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be auctioned off at Barrett Jackson.
One is a No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS that was raced at Phoenix, Richmond and Bristol. The other is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS designed by Earnhardt.
And the most important factor? All proceeds from both sales will benefit Nationwide Children's Hospital.
"The great thing about the auction of this race car and the Chevelle is that Chevrolet, Hendrick Motorsports and Nationwide have teamed up to raise money for the Nationwide Children's Hospital," Earnhardt said.
Through the @Nationwide88 Twitter account, a series of videos is being released leading up to the auction.
In one, Earnhardt explains what makes the Chevelle so unique.
As proud as he is of the cars that will head to auction, the part that has Earnhardt the most excited is that Nationwide Children's Hospital is the beneficiary.
"I'm excited to have the opportunity every year to find new ways for us to help raise money for the hospital," he said, "and this is going to bring in a lot of great funds for them."
The cars will hit the Barrett-Jackson block on Jan. 21 at the 2017 Scottsdale Auction. It will be broadcast on Velocity.
