CONCORD, N.C. -- Ever since Dale Earnhardt Jr. was a child, paint schemes have played a major role in his love of racing.
"When I would go to the racetrack as a little kid, I pulled for the car that I liked, not really knowing who drove it," he said. "As I got older, I paid a lot of attention to paint schemes. I always have."
That's why it comes as no surprise that Earnhardt enjoyed being involved in the design process of his brand new No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS for the 2017 season.
He said he particularly enjoys that the new scheme "has a retro look to it."
